Eagle Scouts are deeply respected in the community. After all, it takes a lot of hard work to get there. From Scholarships to Job applications , being in Scouts will help you in the education and work areas. Many scouts find that service hours are needed in school- well they're needed for rank advancement too! Troop 132 is always looking for new service hours opportunities for our scouts! Also, scouts reinforces good citizenship. They have quite a few Citizenship Merit Badges- all are Eagle required(meaning that they are necessary for each scout to attain in order to rank up)! So come on in and join us for some fun today!
Intro To BSA Uniforms
The BSA Uniform is a critical part of scouting! The universal symbol of Scouting, a BSA uniform will last you through countless adventures and will bring you closer to other Scouts who share a common thread. In many scouting competitions, the uniform is required (or else you lose points). There are 2 uniforms (technically), the first being Class A or more commonly known as the scout uniform. It is essentially the same uniform embedded with patches that symbolize your patrol, troop, position and also the world scout emblem- an emblem scouts all over the world have on their uniforms! The BSA's Uniform includes many options from head-to-toe! You could wear a BSA hat, must wear scouting uniform(actual uniform/dress/shirt), BSA pants/ shorts and some hiking boots!
Troop 132's Uniform Guidelines
Class A (aka Dress or Field): Consists of the official Scout shirt with all badges and insignia; neckerchief with slide or bolo tie; and official BSA green pants or shorts. Boots are preferred OR leather / canvas dress shoes neat and clean per BSA guidelines. Optional items include a cap (either the official green-and-red Scout cap, the Troop cap, or other BSA cap), merit badge sash, and OA sash.
Class B (aka Activity): Consists of either the Troop T-shirt or BSA T-shirt, worn with neat pants or shorts. Sport shoes / sneakers are acceptable. Optional items include a cap (the Troop cap, or other BSA cap), the official pants or shorts, and official socks.

Buddy System:
In many ways Scouts reflects Leadership & Teamwork! The Buddy System means that each Scout should be paired with one other Scout and each Scout should have a unique partner. This is useful in first aid & safety scenarios so that either scout could provide care for the other if necessary. It also encourages Scouts to develop better attitudes and be kinder to one another, because if they're going to be stuck with one another, they might as well get along. When camping at summer camps/ campouts, most of the time you tent/ cabin with other scouts, encouraging teamwork!
"2 Deep Leadership"
This is when there are 2 adults present for safety measures and so if one is bad, then the other can be good, there isn't a problem! Also, it is easier for 2 adults to monitor scouts rather than just one monitoring everyone. After all, humans only have two eyes!
The Scouting program will never let you get bored! Troop 132 generally has a minimum of 4+ events each month, comparable to the common 1 or 2 monthly deployments/ events. We want our scouts to have a safe, fun-filled environment. Whether it's Rank Advancement or Merit Badges or the Events & meetings that make you happy, Troop 132 is ready to assist you in your scouting journey! The BSA implements a rank system which will help regulate community service hours, give them motivation to teach others, learn important skills, pursue their passions, etc. In BSA, every scout can become Eagle in 1 year or 6 years, depending on the scout. The BSA and Troop 132 respect that every scout goes at their own pace. Merit Badges let you show merit and learn about certain topics. BSA has more than 130 attainable merit badges! Contrary to popular opinion, BSA doesn't just promote that Wilderness Survival stuff(though there are merit badges related to this topic). Instead you can pick the Music, Family Life, Communication, Space Exploration and many more! In the Merit Badge business, we have a variety of merit badge counselors for most of the many merit badges. From Chess to Animation to Communication to Photography, our merit badges counselors and experts can offer many merit badges.
